Hey! I wanted to share my first attempt at making Teriyaki Chicken!! I have to say it was very easy. Since, I wanted this to turn out perfect I looked to Pinterest for some inspiration and tips to see how much Teriyaki sauce to use in the recipe.
I viewed about two recipes and both used about 1 1/3 cups of soy sauce. I decided to use 1/4 of soy sauce and 1 cup of Teriyaki sauce. I then added 2 tbsp of Sriracha sauce (the real SrIracha sauce okay!!!). Both recipes required honey I used 3 tbsp of agave. I used fresh ginger root and grated it into the mix. Added fresh garlic along with a tsp of sesame seed oil.
After mixing the ingredients, rinse chicken and season as you like. I only used ground black pepper to season the chicken because soy sauce and teriyaki sauce have a good amount of sodium so you don't need to add any salt to your chicken as it will be marinating in the mix. I used glass cookware to place the chicken in and gently covered the chicken with the mix using a spoon.
Tip: Make sure to turn the chicken over as it cooks to make sure it's evenly seasoned and getting enough juice. I recommend every 15 to 20 minutes. I believe I turned the chicken over 4 times during the entire process.
Cook chicken for an hour and a half, then broil for 5 minutes or less until skin is crispy and brown. Viola!!
